It would seem that the Church of the LDS is just as obsessed over the dress and grooming of their female members as the Governing Body is of JWs.

i have to say that i found item 3 on the above page raised questions in my mind.
if an elder is deleted presumably for wrongdoing the hard copy text book is taken off him and destroyed.
but who ensures that any electronic copies of the book in his possession are deleted?
I have to say that I found item 3 on the above page raised questions in my mind. If an elder is deleted presumably for wrongdoing the hard copy text book is taken off him and destroyed. But who ensures that any electronic copies of the book in his possession are deleted? Will the BoE demand all of his USB sticks and tablets to ensure he hasn't kept a copy, or do they think they have a right to take these off him? Really makes me wonder how they intend ensuring that electronic copies are deleted.
this article is about a homeless person in the canadian winter.
all the good churches are providing hot food, but the jws are simply manning their cart.
and even then object to the man just taking a handful of their literature off them.

Makes me feel so angry that they are doing nothing practical for the freezing homeless people, and sad that they once taught me to feel the same.

i have just had the opportunity to read a hard copy of the awake no3 2018 entitled "help for those who grieve".
wtf?.
it really is appalling in its glaring omission of any recommendation to see a professional grief counselor!
I know that at a local level you will be discouraged from seeing a worldly counsellor or therapist.
But the Org has in the past suggested using professional help to deal with problems. There was an Awake! in 2014 about suicide which did suggest using outside help.

why do jehovah's witness members incriminate themselves to any judicial process?
how can three elders conduct a judicial meeting with a 15-year-old teenage girl who supposedly was rumored to fornicate, took drugs or was drunk from drinking alcohol?
can she or the parents refuse to answer any questions?.
Because it is a case of "you're damned if you do or you're damned if you don't."
I remember back when I served as a younger blinkered elder I very much deferred to the older and - or so I mistakenly believed at the time - wiser more mature elders.
Anyway we had one lad who had formed a relationship with a wordly girl and had been seen by a couple going inside her church. (For all we really knew he may have dropped her off and been using the toilet facility inside the building!)
He was invited to come and talk to the elders but he turned the invitation down. The committee met together anyway, reviewed the alleged evidence, and disfellowshipped him in absentia.
He later said nobody had even told him why he was being disfellowshipped. He was asked to come to the next mid-week congregation meeting, which he did, and was as shocked as everyone else when the announcement was read out.
So it doesn't really matter if you present yourself or not. Minds probably have been made up in advance.
just got the heads up from montreal that 16 congregations will cease to exist from 1 april 2019. also 3 kh are no longer going to be used anymore.
this was a major announcement for many and upsetting.
wonder where the r& f are going to be dispersed with what sacrifices in the way!.
Funny how "false religion" can operate multiple halls and churches in every little village whereas people wanting to flock to the mountain-like "one true faith" have to travel miles and miles away from their home town to do so.
So much for preaching and going to where the people are located. Ho Hum.
when did the organization first start claiming that jesus chose them in 1919?
does anyone know?
-- thanks ahead of time.
The organisation has always said that Jesus came to inspect and clease the earthly part of the temple in 1919.
Here's a relatively recent Question from Readers which touches on this topic. I hope that's of some help to you.

i know 7 was the finished mystery.
what were the other 6?
thanks.
You can actually buy reprints of the set of the first 6 written by Russell from Amazon nowadays. It's about 80 dollars for the 6 if you want them as books rather than the ones online only.
Here's a link to see the online copies.
